Institution accreditation liaison (IAL) is a very special role. For those of us who have served in these professionally-stretching roles, we know that the position comes with great challenges, complexity, and combined with another set of responsibilities (e.g., provost, head of institutional research, vp for student success, etc.).
Serving as the IAL is a critical role at each college or university. Only those that have walked in these shoes know the true scope of work. That’s why, IEHE has created the Institution Accreditation Liaison Collaborative, created by accreditation liaisons for accreditations liaisons. The IAL Collaborative provides a national resource to support IAL’s professional development, access to materials that improve the quality of an institution’s accreditation materials, and networks to other IALs who have blazed trails.
The IAL Collaborative is open to higher education leaders who currently serve as an accreditation liaison for: institutional accreditation (formerly referred to as regional accreditation) or discipline-specific accreditation (e.g., business, teaching, nursing, etc.)
IEHE is pleased to announce that the National Survey of Institution Accreditation Liaisons (IAL) is underway.
The IAL role is a critical role in maintaining accreditation for the institution and for disciplines (e.g., business, teaching, nursing, etc.). Yet, very little is known about IALs. No national survey exists to learn more about IALs and their challenges, needs, and opportunities. Perhaps there hasn’t been a national survey developed yet because it takes the experience of those who have served in these dynamic IAL roles to create such a survey.
Meet the National Institution Accreditation Liaison Survey workgroup. This experienced set of rock-star institution accreditation liaisons are blazing new trails and sharing their expertise with other IALs. When the IAL role is strengthened — so too is the institution. We think about it as “high tides lift all boats.”
